Rail Europe sells a wide range of Eurail Passes that cover one or more of these countries, and many of them cover neighboring nations as well, offering buyers a terrific way to see several gay-popular European cities.
The Netherlands, and more specifically Amsterdam, are widely known for the Red Light District, coffee shops and a very liberal attitude. It features hotels, nightclubs and cafes that cater to the LGBT community. The thriving gay scenes in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Frankfurt make Germany a very popular destination. Liberal Denmark has some of the most extensive LGBT rights in Europe. Same-sex relations have been accepted since 1933 and same-sex marriage since 1989. And finally Switzerland - and Zurich in particular - has proven to be highly accepting of all lifestyles over the last few years.
In August, Denmark and the Netherlands are especially attractive places to visit, as from August 4 through August 7 visitors can enjoy the Amsterdam Gay Pride - complete with its colorful Canal Boat Parade. Only ten days later, celebrants can revel in four days of parties, parades, LGBT arts and cultural programming in Copenhagen (August 17 through 21).
These are just a few of the many Gay Pride festivals taking place in cities that can be reached using these discounted Eurail passes over the coming months. Other examples are Munich, Sitges, Nice, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stockholm, Mannheim and Prague.
